Finger Out

Finger Out

It is not a horror story, but it was awful and the worst thing that has happened to me.

It happened three years ago. It was a beautiful Friday afternoon, and my grandmother had arrived the day before, so we wanted to make something special for her. My cousin had bought fish and some shrimp for dinner. I need to mention that I am not a smart girl when I have to do other activities that require complete attention, such as cleaning fish or playing games of remembering and concentration.

Then, my cousin told me to clean the fish, be careful, and not hurt myself. I only had to wash the fishes with water and put salt on them, but I had a big chef knife on my hand, so I wanted to prove it and cut the fins. So I lifted the knife and cut off the first fin, lifted it a second time, and cut off the other fin. It seemed easy, so I continued doing it when I took the third fish to recreate the feat. I never realized that my second finger was on the fin's fish, so when I sliced the knife on the fin, I did it. I cut a little piece of my finger, and it was on the chopping block. I started laughing and said Oh my, I cut my finger. Nobody believed me because I was laughing and screaming with a big smile on my face.

My cousin approached me and saw on the table, and there was my piece of finger. She screamed that my finger was there. In the beginning, it was funny, but then the pain started increasing. In the end, my cousin and I were in the hospital. Fortunately, the bone never was affected, so the doctor gave some medicine for pain and infection.

Believe it or not, I still feel psychological pain when I cut meat or vegetables with a large knife on the table, as the sound of the knife hitting the table makes my hands tremble, and I feel a slight pain in my finger. The moral of the story is don't do things that seem uncomplicated if you know you are clueless.
